A message from Shaykh Muhammad
Salah to his students

All Praise be to Allah alone. We praise him, seek His aid and ask for His
forgiveness. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah
alone and we bear witness that Mohammed (salla
Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is His last messenger.

Dear seekers of knowledge,

I welcome you to this course and I ask Allah to shower us with
His mercy and grant us the right understanding of His Deen. Since the Prophet
(salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “When Allah wishes good for someone,
He bestows upon him the understanding of the Deen”.

That is indeed the rescue boat in the midst of the turbulent sea as there is no
other way to recognize the straight path other than learning the Quran and the
Sunnah.

Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, “One day the
Messenger of Allah (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) delivered us a very
eloquent Khutbah on account of which our eyes & hearts shed tears. A man
said: "O Prophet of Allah, it is as if this is a parting advice. So advise
us". He (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, "I admonish you to
fear Allah, to listen and obey even if an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your
leader. Because whosoever amongst you shall live after me, will see much discord.
So hold fast to my Sunnah and the examples of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who
will come after me. Adhere and hold fast to them. Beware of newly invented
matters (in the Deen) because every newly invented matter is a Bid`ah and every
Bid’ah is a misguidance".
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Knowledge in general is not available in the form of pills or tablets that one
can take in order to gain knowledge and thus be knowledgeable. Rather it is a
sacred journey, whoever undertakes this journey Allah the
Almighty will make his path easy, leading him/ her to Jannah.

Life is very short yet it is full of competition, the praiseworthy competition
is indicated in the hadeeth as narrated by Ibn Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased
with him) who reported the Prophet (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) as saying,
"Envy is permitted only in two cases: A man whom Allah gives wealth,
and he disposes of it rightfully, and a man to whom Allah gives knowledge which
he applies and teaches it.''
And the Prophet (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa
sallam) also said, “the best of you is the one who learns the
Quran and teaches it to others”.

Seeking knowledge is not a goal in itself rather it is the correct and proper
means to achieve the greatest goal which is pleasing Allah the Most High through
worshipping Him properly.

The Prophet (salla Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The Qur’an is a proof
either for you or against you. In order to have it as a proof and an
intercessor for you, you have to act upon it and implement its teachings in
your life”.

Muslims are in a desperate need for true Islamic knowledge in order for them to
distinguish between many of the false cultural habits and the true Islamic
traditions.

Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal said, “People are much more in need for knowledge than
they are in need for eating and drinking, people may need to eat twice or trice
every day but they need knowledge with every breath they take”.

Dear brothers and sisters, this intensive course is a sincere attempt to learn
the correct knowledge from the original sources, the Qur’an & Sunnah. I
hope this course will be a serious help and guide in implementing the correct
knowledge that we learn.

-Muhammad Salah-
